Hypoglycaemic excluding Insulin · Sulphonylurea
Indications
Maturity-onset diabetes.
Dosage
Adults: Initial: 250 mg once daily with breakfast. Titrate: After 5-7 days, adjust by 50-125 mg daily every 3-5 days. Maint: 100-500 mg daily. Max: 750 mg daily. Children: Not recommended.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended.
Advice to Patient
Take with meals. Contact prescriber if there is fever, sore throat, dark yellow or brown urine, yellow skin and eyes, bleeding or bruising. Monitor blood glucose level as instructed. Proper diet and regular exercise are also necessary along with medication to control blood glucose level. Do not skip meals or exercise too much. If there is confirmed or suspected hypoglycemia do not drive or operate machinery until blood glucose levels return to normal. Avoid exposure to sunlight.
