Bifonazole

Indications

Mycoses of the skin caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds and other fungi.

Dosage

Adults & Children: Apply sparingly 1 time daily until two wk after apparent cure.

Advice to Patient

Before applying cream, wash and dry feet thoroughly. After treatment, always wash hands to prevent it from spreading. Contact prescriber if symptoms do not improve within 7 days. The infected area may itch, try not to scratch. Keep the affected skin areas clean and dry, especially area between the toes and avoid excessive rubbing. Do not share towels, bath mats, etc. with other people. Wash socks, stockings and tights thoroughly in hot water to remove any shed skin or fungal spores. Change footwear daily if possible.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption: Very low (0.6% of an applied dose). In case of skin lesions, absorption is increased (2.5%). Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 1-2 hrs.
