Indications
Ocular hypertension, chronic open-angle glaucoma.
Dosage
Adults: 1 drop twice daily. Children: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Transient discomfort. Rarely decreased corneal sensitivity, erythema, corneal punctate staining, keratitis, blurred vision, increased lacrimation, headache, systemic beta blocker effects.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Sinus bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, uncompensated cardiac failure, soft lenses. Precautions: History of obstructive airways disease, diabetes, thyrotoxicosis, Raynaud's disease, cardiovascular disease, muscle weakness, corneal disease. General anaesthesia. Sjogren's syndrome. Remove soft contact lenses; wait 15 min before reinserting.
Interactions
Oral B blockers.
Advice to Patient
Wash hands properly before use. Shake suspension well before use. To instill medication into eyes, tilt head back, look upward, instill drops into the eye. Close eye and roll eyeball in all directions. Do not blink for 30 seconds. Apply gentle pressure to inner corner of eye for 30 seconds. Contact prescriber if there is eye pain, changes in vision, no improvement or worsening of condition. Avoid touching tip of applicator with eye. Do not share medication with anyone else.

Onset: 0.5-1 hr. Duration: >12 hrs. Absorption: Minimal systemic absorption. Metabolism: Hepatic. Half-life elimination: 16-22 hrs. Time to peak: 2 hrs. Excretion: Urine (80%).
