Indications
Non-infected inflammatory conditions of the eye, ear or nose. In ophthalmology indications include uveitis, marginal keratitis, allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis and episcleritis.
Dosage
EYE: Adults & Children: 1 or 2 drops one or two hourly or 0.5 cm oint two or three times daily and/or at night. EAR: Adults & Children: 2 or 3 drops two or three hourly. NOSE: Adults & Children: 2-3 drops in each nostril two or three times daily.
Adverse Effects
Eye: Corneal thinning and ulceration, cataract, rise in intra-ocular pressure; avoid unnecessary use. Sensitisation, mydriasis, ptosis, epithelial punctate keratitis.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: Risk cannot be ruled out. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Contraindications: Eye: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent infections. Dendritic ulcer. Glaucoma. Ear: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent conditions. Perforated ear drum. Nose: Viral, fungal or tuberculous conditions. Precautions: Prolonged use in children. Risk of visual disturbances.
Interactions
CYP3A inhibitors.
Advice to Patient
If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately.
