Indications
Eye: Non-infected inflammatory conditions (e.g. uveitis, marginal keratitis, allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis and episcleritis) where development of bacterial infection is likely. Ear: Otitis externa and other inflammatory conditions where bacterial infection is present or suspected. Nose: Inflammatory conditions where infection is present or suspected.
Dosage
Eye: Adults & Children: 1 or 2 drops one or two hourly or 0.5 cm oint two or three times daily and/or at night. Ear: Adults & Children: 2 or 3 drops two or three hourly. Nose: Adults & Children: 2-3 drops in each nostril two or three times daily.
Adverse Effects
Corneal thinning, cataract, rise in intra-ocular pressure, sensitization and cross resistance to neomycin; avoid unnecessary use.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Eye: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent infections. Dendritic ulcer. Glaucoma. Ear: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent conditions. Perforated ear drum. Nose: Viral, fungal or tuberculous conditions. Precautions: Prolonged use in pregnancy.
