Benzakonium Chloride, Pessary

Indications
Local contraception; reduction of risk of pregnancy.
Dosage
Adults: To be taken via vaginal route. In lying down position, place the pessary high into the vagina 5 mins before each intercourse. In the event of repeated acts of intercourse, place another pessary. The duration of protection is 4 hrs. Immediately after intercourse, only external washing with pure water is possible.
Adverse Effects
Itching, burning sensations or local irritations in one or both partners.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Development or worsening of genital lesion.
Advice to Patient
Avoid washing with soap. Avoid concomitant local vaginal treatment.
