Indications
Seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Dosage
Adults and Children =12 yrs: 1 spray per nostril twice daily. Prime before initial use and when it has not been used for 14 or more days. <12 yrs: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Headache, epistaxis, dysgeusia.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Contraindications: Recent nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, nasal trauma. Pregnancy. Precautions: History of increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, and/or cataracts. Tuberculosis. Fungal, bacterial, viral, parasitic infections. Ocular herpes simplex. Monitor growth routinely in children receiving nasal spray. Lactation. Elderly. Renal impairment.
Interactions
Ritonavir. Ketoconazole, other potent CYP3A4 inhibitors. Erythromycin. Cimetidine, ranitidine.
Advice to Patient
Avoid alcohol during treatment. Avoid tasks that require mental alertness such as driving and operating machinery during treatment. Report changes in vision. Avoid spraying into eyes. Shake the bottle gently before each use and prime the pump before initial use and when nasal spray has not been for 14 or more days.
