Indications

Treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on either monotherapy.

Dosage

Adults: One tablet/day. Max: 5/100 mg. Children: Not recommended.

Adverse Effects

Headache, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, abdominal discomfort.

Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)

Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Hepatic impairment. Renal impairment. Intravascularly volume-depleted patients.

Interactions

Aliskiren in patients with diabetes (avoid). Rifampin, fluconazole, potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g. spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), trimethoprim-containing products, lithium, COX-2 inhibitors, strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir).

Advice to Patient

Take with water. Take with meals or without meals.
