Indications
Recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores) to prevent occurrence of ulcerative cold sores and reduction of lesion healing time.
Dosage
Adults and Children =6 yrs: 5 times daily for 5 days. Apply sufficient amount to cover affected area, including the outer margin. <6 yrs: Not recommended.
Adverse Effects
Local skin reactions: Drying/flaking of the skin, burning/tingling, erythema, pigmentation changes, application site reactions including signs and symptoms of inflammation.
Risk Factor (Pregnancy/Lactation)
Pregnancy: No evidence of risk in humans. Lactation: Caution advised or effect undetermined. Precautions: Immuno-compromised patients. Therapy should be initiated following the first signs or symptoms.
Advice to Patient
Do not use in the eyes, inside the mouth or nose, or on the genitals. Avoid unnecessary rubbing of the affected area to avoid aggravating or transferring the infection.
